HEMS Industry Risk Profile
The Flight Safety
Foundation recently released a comprehensive analysis of the risks
facing the Helicopter Emergency medical services (HEMS) industry. The Industry Risk Profile (IRP),
developed by Aerosafe Risk Management, also provides a roadmap
outlining proactive steps that the industry and regulators can
follow in order to mitigate these risks. Click the link above

Scholarship Programs
FARE Launches the Children's Scholarship Fund
Children who have lost a parent in an air medical
accident may now be eligible for financial assistance through a
scholarship fund developed by FARE. Beginning this year, the
FARE Children’s Scholarship Fund will award two scholarships, of
$2,500 each, to deserving high school seniors entering a college,
university or vocational-technical school.
FARE Children’s Scholarship Fund applicants will be evaluated
according to academic achievement, financial need and community
service. To be eligible, applicants must be a graduating high school
senior accepted into an accredited two-or four-year college,
university or vocational-technical school. Applicants must also have
at least a C grade point average (GPA) and be a legal U.S. resident.

Deadline Extended! Applications are
now due by July 15, 2009. Scholarship recipients will be announced in
August 2009.

Frakes, RN, EMT-P as the MTLI Scholarship award winner for
2009! |

Frakes is the Clinical Nurse
Specialist and Director of Education and Performance at
Boston MedFlight. The review committee was impressed
by his extensive experience in the critical care transport
community, dedication to multiple professional
organizations and very remarkable list of publications.
In his application Frakes clearly defined career goals
that when combined with earning a CMTE (Certified Medical
Transport Executive) will have a direct positive impact on
the critical care transport community.
The Medical Transport Leadership Institute (MTLI) enhances
leadership and management of medical transportation
through formal education programs emphasizing management
theory and its direct practical application. FARE
will award the competitive 2-year scholarship annually
over the next ten years to individuals who excel in the
critical care transport community. Metro Aviation,
Inc. is the sole funder for the MTLI Scholarship program.
The 2010 application will open in the fall of 2009. |
